Erich Segal, born in Brooklyn, New York in 1937, was an American author, screenwriter and educator. Segal was educated at Harvard and graduated with his A.B. in 1958 as class poet and Latin salutatorian. He went on to earn his A.M. in classics and Ph.D. in comparative literature from Harvard in 1959 and 1965, respectively.
